Father |
William Millican was born "Oct. 11, 1810" in Tennessee.
By proximity and circumstantial evidence William Millican can be connected
to a Moses Millican (b. circa 1794 Tennessee) and Celia Millican Stout (b. abt.
1813 Tennessee) both of whom also moved to Collin County, Texas from
Arkansas and lived near William. William's father may have been
Julius Millican based on circumstantial
evidence and proximity. William Millican and Rebecca were married in "August 1834" probably in Tennessee. The original marriage record was likely destroyed in a courthouse fire. They lived in Tennessee up until at least 1837. By 1840 they had moved to Pulaski County, Missouri were they were recorded in the census. Between 1840 and 1842 they moved to Arkansas. By 1850 they had moved into Crawford County, Arkansas and were recorded in the census. About 1852 they moved once more to Collin County, Texas. William died at age "60 years, 5 months, and 11 days" which would be 22 March 1871. His burial place is unknown. [Birthdate from records of Isaac Millican compiled circa 1936.] William Millican's Y-DNA Haplogroup is R-M269 --> R-A16 --> BY13097 Milligan / Millikin DNA project |

Bryan County, Oklahoma. An elderly daughter-in-law (Bess Millican in her late 90s) stated that the family (Granville's) was coming up from south Texas at the time of the big hurricane and there was some kind of stay near San Jacinto. Granville's bother James lived just a few miles from the San Jacinto site in Harris County in 1900 at the time of the Galveston Hurricane. This explains why the family can not be found in the 1900 census because they were traveling and likely visiting the James Millican family.
