Levin Killman & Mary Hendrickson of
Overton County, Tennessee and
Cumberland County, Kentucky.

(Last updated 20 July 2022)

Father:

Levin Killman was born about 1795 in North Carolina.  Levin married Mary Hendrickson Williams in "1819" in Overton County, Kentucky.

In 1840 they were recorded in the tax rolls and the Federal Census in Monroe County, Kentucky.  Kettle Creek is in western Cumberland County and partly in Monroe County. They were neighbors of Abraham Kerr.

Levin died on 9 Sep 1854 per Mary's War of 1812 pension file.

See also his (likely) brother James Killman.

Genforum: Killman

The Eastern Cherokee application
of their grandson Stephen Alford
Killman lists the children of Mary
and Levin Killman.

Mother:

Mary Hendrickson was born about 1788 in Kentucky (per siblings) or North Carolina (per census).  She may have been a daughter of John Hendrickson and had brothers Aaron Hendrickson (1793), Separate Hendrickson (1791) and William Hendrickson.  There is an X-DNA match between two of Mary's descendants and a descendant of Separate Hendrickson.

The Eastern Cherokee application of her grandson Stephen Alford Killman lists her as a "Hendricks" but the marriage bond to Joseph Williams has her correctly as Hendrickson.

2021 Theory: Mary "Hendricks" was first married to Joseph Williams by 1810.
2022 Mary "Killmon" (formerly widow of Joseph Williams) received Bounty Land for Joseph's military service. Thanks KarenG.
July 2022: Mary's War of 1812 pension file was received and it completely validates the previous year of research.
