Mannon family - Scenario 1
(descendants are connected by Andrew Mannon and/or Mary Foster)

(Last updated 6 April 2024)

1st gen   Andrew Mannon
(c.1780s-1840s?)
md. circa 1808

     Mary "Polly" Foster
(c.1780s-1850s?)
md. circa 1808
Sister of Rutha Mullins?
  Gabriel Vaughn?
James Claxton?
Andrew Mannon?

    Andrew Mannon
(c.1780s-1840s?)
md. circa 1808
    Elizabeth Evans (?)
(aft. 1791)

      Unknown
parents

2nd gen     Sarah "Sally "Mannon
(c.1810-1880+)
Never married?
    William Manning
(c.1809-1890+)*
md. Elizabeth Grimes
    Andrew J Manning (1814)
William H Manning (1820)
unknown daughters?
        Rebecca Mannon*
(1811/15-1860+)
                                          Nancy Mannon
(c. 1816/18-1890+)
md. Henry Claxton

3rd gen     Mary Mannon
(c. 1833/37)
    Minta Mannon (1831)
Clara Mannon (1833)
Mary J Mannon (1835)
Eliza J Mannon (1837)
Andrew Mannon (1840)
Nancy Mannon (1842)
and others...
    DNA matches to many
descendants of Andrew
and William Manning
        Mark Mannon
(c.1826-1850+)
      Elizabeth [Clark]
(c. 1835/37)
                DNA matches to many
descendants of Andrew
and William Manning
      Andrew Mannon
(1842-1920)
[Eldridge Y-DNA]

DNA matching indicates Andrew Mannon (1842) and Elizabeth [Clark] (1835/37) had to have been at least half-siblings.

Descendants of William Manning (1809) do not share Eldridge DNA matches with Andrew Manning  (1842-1920) descendants.
This is evidence that William Manning (1809) could NOT be the father of Andrew Mannon (1842-1920).

What makes this scenario work?

• It preserves a maternal connection between descendants of Sarah Mannon and William Mannon and a DNA link back to the Mullins and Foster families.
• It preserves a paternal connection between descendants of Sarah Mannon and William Mannon and an autosomal DNA link [not Y-DNA] of Andrew Mannon descendants to other Mannon descendants.

Mannon family - Scenario 2
(descendants are connected through Sarah and Elizabeth)

(Last updated 6 April 2024)

2nd gen   William Eldridge?     Sarah "Sally" Grimes?
Sarah "Sally" Napier?
(c.1810-1880+)
  William Manning
(c.1809-1890+)*

  Elizabeth Grimes?
(c.1810-1893)
    Andrew J Manning (1814)
William H Manning (1820)
unknown daughters?

3rd gen           Mary Mannon
(c.1833/37)
            Minta Mannon (1831)
Clara Mannon (1833)
Mary J Mannon (1835)
Eliza J Mannon (1837)
Andrew Mannon (1840)
Nancy Mannon (1842)
and others...
    DNA matches to many
descendants of Andrew
and William Manning
            Elizabeth [Clark]
(c.1835/37)
            Andrew Mannon
(1842-1920)
[Eldridge Y-DNA]

DNA matching indicates Andrew Mannon (1842) and Elizabeth [Clark] (1835/37) had to have been at least half-siblings.

Descendants of William Manning (1809) do not share Eldridge DNA matches with Andrew Manning  (1842-1920) descendants.
This is evidence that William Manning (1809) could NOT be the father of Andrew Mannon (1842-1920).

What makes this scenario work?

• It preserves a maternal or paternal connection between descendants of Sarah Mannon and William Mannon and a possible DNA link back to the Mullins/Foster or other families.  There is no evidence that Sarah or Elizabeth are related in any way.

3rd gen   William Eldridge?

  Sarah Mannon
(c.1810-1880+)
Never married?
  William Manning *
(c.1809-1890+)
md. Eliz. Grimes
  • Andrew J Manning (1814)
• William H Manning (1820)
• Eliz. J. Galloway (1827+)
   more?
  • Rebecca Mannon (1811)
• Nancy Mannon (c. 1816)
    md. Henry Claxton
• Mark Mannon (c.1826)

4th gen         Mary Mannon
(c. 1833/37)
  Minta Mannon (1831)
Clara Mannon (1833)
Mary J Mannon (1835)
Eliza J Mannon (1837)
Andrew Mannon (1840)
Nancy Mannon (1842)
and others...
  Andrew Mannon (1842) descendants
have DNA matches to Andrew J
Manning (1814) and William H
Manning (1820) descendants.
      Andrew Mannon (1842)
descendants have DNA
matches to William
Manning (1775)
descendants.
          Elizabeth [Clark]
(c. 1835/37)
      Rebecca and Nancy moved
to Hancock County, TN by
1850 and lived next to
William Manning (1809).

          Andrew Mannon
(1842-1920)
[Eldridge Y-DNA]

* Andrew Mannon (Sr) may or may not be the father of William Manning (1809). Other men associated with Mary Foster were James Claxton and Gabriel Vaughn.

Assuming Mary (Foster) Mannon was a sister of Ruth (Foster?) Mullins this would explain the DNA matches between Mullins and Mannon descendants.

Unfortunately without a Y-DNA test of a male-line descendant of  William Manning (1809) we will not know his actual paternal line.

What makes this scenario work?

• It creates a maternal connection between descendants of Sarah Mannon and William Mannon and a DNA link to the Mullins/Foster families.
• It creates a paternal connection between descendants of Sarah Mannon and William Mannon and an autosomal DNA link [not Y-DNA] of  to other Mannon descendants.
