William Hall was probably born in
the early 1700s in Virginia. William died in 1799 in Laurens County, South Carolina. His will was written on 27 May 1799 and recorded in the County records but the recording and proving date was not recorded. In his will he says he is "very sick and weak in body". [Will transcript] [Will] [Appraisal] William Hall's Y-DNA Haplogroup is R-CTS241 [subclade of R-M269]. |

William's first wife was evidently Frances ______ (per 1785 deed) and his second wife was Mary ______ (per 1799 will). | |

● Abraham "Abram" Hall was born before 1770 (est.) in
Virginia. His estimated age is calculated by the fact he was the head
of a household in 1790 with two females probably his wife and a daughter.
| |
1775 |
● Henry Hall was born about 1771-1775 in Virginia.
He married Zekiah _____. They moved to St. Clair County, Alabama.
Henry died after 1840 and before 1850.
| |
1774 |
● William Hall (Jr) was born about
1774 in Virginia. William married Nancy South but
it's possible he was previously married. Nancy died after 1844 in
SC or GA. Recent research finds a William Hall (born 1774) living in Cass
[Bartow] County, Georgia in 1850 living with Reuben and Frances Hall Carter.
The association of these three reflects that William and Frances are
probably two children of the William Hall (sr) that died in 1799 in Laurens
County, South Carolina. It's possible William Hall and Nancy South had more
children than the two listed given the large age gap. The two listed are
only known from the will of their grandfather William South. The death
record of William James Hall lists his mother as "Miss South".

in Cass (Bartow) County, Georgia.

1860-07-25 "The Cassville Standard" newspaper:
"Notice.
Lost or stolen from my note book, two promissory notes, one of said notes
given by E. K. Winnett for one hundred dollars, dated about the 1st or 3d of
November, 1859, and made payable to David Roberson or bearer, and due 23th
December, 1860, with interest from date; the other note on Charrity Sorrels
for sixty dollars, dated the same time of the other note, made payable to
David Roberson, and due 23th December, 1860, bearing interest from date. As
I hare not traded said notes to any person, I forewarn all persons from
trading for them, and also forewarn the maker of said notes from paying them
to any person except myself. JONATHAN McDOW. June 27."
[This notice ties Jonathan McDow with
David Roberson and verifies that the William Hall living with Jonathna McDow in 1850 is
indeed our William James Hall.]
