John and Catherine Bowman of Frederick county,
Maryland research

(Last updated 29 March 2021)

Father

John Bowman lived in Frederick county, Maryland.  In 1776 the western part of Frederick county where they lived was made into Washington county, Maryland.

John died before 4 April 1795 in Washington county, Maryland.  His will was produced in court in Washington county, Maryland on 4 April 1795.  In February and March 1806 in Washington county, Maryland there were two sales of property of the estate of John Bowman. Daniel Bowman was the Administrator of his father's estate and was still living in Washington county years after the other siblings had moved to Greene county, Tennessee.  It's speculative but it may indicate the mother Catherine had just recently passed away and with her death her legal interest in the estate under dower law was ended and the estate could finally be closed.

John's Y-DNA Haplogroup is R-M269.
