John S. Jeffries was born about 1781 in Virginia.  He may have been the son of Swepson Jeffries and Sarah Hix. John S. Jeffries and Rebecca Richards were married on 8 September 1806 in Mecklenburg county, Virginia. John S. Jeffries died on or about 13 February 1837 in Mecklenburg county, Virginia.

Rebecca Richards was born 1788-1791 in Virginia.  She was the daughter of William Richards and unknown.
In 1858 the family moved to northern Mississippi settling in Desoto county. Rebecca died after 1860.    		 Census records:

Susan died 1 October 1855 probably in Mecklenburg co., Virginia.  By 1860 the family had moved the family to Mississippi. 
  • Martha A. "Pattie Jeffries" Gregory was born 8 August 1843 in Mecklenburg co., Virginia. She married Benjamin F. Britton on 28 Aug 1867 in Desoto co., Mississippi. They moved to Texas in the mid 1870s. Pattie died on 22 December 1919 in Paducah?, Cottle co., Texas and buried in Buck Creek cem., Cottle co., Texas.

  • Lucy Y. Gregory was born 8 May 1845 in Mecklenburg co., Virginia. Lucy died 22 August 1862 and was buried in Mt. Peryn cem., Tate co., Mississippi.

  • Virginia Alice Gregory was born about October 1846 (1847) in Mecklenburg co., Virginia.  She married John Hewitt Lea on 27 November 1866 in Desoto county, Mississippi.  They moved to Texas with Benjamin and Pattie Britton.  Virginia died 1915 in Knox county, Texas.

Virginia died after 1860 in Mississippi. Achilles moved to northern Mississippi. Achilles died on 28 Jan 1884 in Tate county, Mississippi.
  • Sarah J. "Sallie" Puryear was born 9 Aug 1851 in Virginia. She married James Earl Lea on 22 Feb 1871 in Desoto co., Mississippi. They moved to Texas. Sarah died 28 July 1913 in Oklahoma and was buried in Gould cem., Harmon co., Oklahoma.
