Pass Christian
15th Sept. 1837
Sir
I am note of this morning requesting my opinion in regard to the danger & liability of transporting the Indians through New Orleans to the prevailing epidemic of that City was received. I cannot conceive sir, that the short period the Indians will be exposed to the atmosphere of Orleans (if the
arrangements as expressed in your note are made) can materially effect their health, nor do I believe in their present good health, they can possibly take the fever from so slight an exposure, and I must give it as my decided opinion, that it is neither
dangerous nor injurious.
Very Respectfully
Your Obt. Svt.
