Qr Masters Office, New Orleans
29 Nov. 1839

This morning a schooner arrived from St. Augustine with forty eight captive Seminole Indians. No papers, no instructions, the Officer Lt Board who accompanied them being left sick at the Balize.

The waters in the Arkansas River being very low, I shall keep them at the U S Barracks until I can receive further instructions from you. I shall also appoint a conductor to issue them and attend generally to their wants.
