Dear Sir

In the summer of 1865 my command was doing garrison duty at Morristown? Pope County Arkansas and I came in possession of a copy (triplicate) of Muster in Roll of a company of Creek Indian Warriors of 69 men mustered into the Army of the United States Feb. 18th 1818 by Col. David Briarly of the 7th Infy. U.S.A. by order of Maj. Genl. Gaines. The names of the officers and men of Company are Indian and in these days are something of a curiosity. This Roll is now over 81 years old and a little dilapidated but not much - should you wish it for preservation I will forward it to you with pleasure.

Very truly yours,
Geo. W. Dean

Dear Sir

Yours 6th inst saying you would be very glad to get the old Muster Roll of Indian Creek Warriors came duly to hand and herewith please find same. It will need some repairing to make it presentable. When I first obtained it it was in good shape but the carrying it from mid summer of 1865 until my muster out the U.S. services in winter of 1866 and reference to same during these subsequent years have worn it considerable, but hoping that you will be able to make it presentable I forward it with pleasure for safe keeping among your collection.

Very truly yours,
G. W. Dean
